Norma Aleen Burkett, 86, formerly of Imler, went to be with the Lord Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in Pavia, daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Ickes) Corle. She married Wilbur "Mike" Burkett on Nov. 8, 1947.
Surviving are her husband; four children: Stanley and wife, Pat, of Imler, Karen Callihan and husband, Danny, of New Paris, Luann Sell and husband, Jerre, of Pavia and Cindy Parker and husband, Mitch, of Pavia; 11 grandchildren: Michael and Lori Burkett, Beth and Joe Varney, Troy Sell, Chad Sell, Ashley and Dave Deasey, Shane Finnegan, Ryan Kudrick and Dylan Kudrick; eight great-grandchildren: Bradley Burkett, Emily Finnegan, Brody Sell, Chandra Sell, Isiah Malec, Abbey and Gabe Varney and Chase Antesberger; and a brother, Emil Corle.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Burkett; three sisters: Meriam Burkett, Jeanie Lamburn and Helen Corle; a brother, Ivan Corle; and a brother-in-law, Robert Burkett.
Norma was a graduate of Bedford High School and worked at the Everett Sewing Factory. She enjoyed being a member of the Mount Zion Church, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, modern Western square dancing, cooking, baking and listening to music. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home Inc., Alum Bank, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Mount Zion Church, Pavia, Pastor Richard Harter officiating. Interment will be at Pavia Cemetery.
