WTAJ-TV newscasts soon will be taking on a new look.
"We are re-doing the entire set. The newscasts will be in HD [high definition]. The clarity will be much better. Everything is getting upgraded from the studio cameras, set, graphics and logo," said Vice President and General Manager Phil Dubrow. "We are adding a new weather lab and adding weather cameras around the viewing area."
The HD newscasts will join the rest of the WTAJ-TV programming - both CBS and syndicated - that is already in HD.
The studio size also is being increased by 40 to 50 percent, Dubrow said.
He said the project cost is in the "hundreds of thousands of dollars" and is to be completed by the first of February.
"This is probably the largest project ever undertaken here. Our company [Nexstar Broadcasting Group] is doing it at many stations across the country. We are the first to have it done this year. It will change the way people see things. The clarity will be better," Dubrow said. "Everybody is jazzed up; there is a lot going on here."
