Florence M. Archey, 94, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Gallitzin, died Tuesday at the home.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late John and Margaret (McCartney) Olson.
Surviving are three children: Florence Kowalczyk and husband, Ronald, of St. Augustine, Fla., Phyllis Kippeny and husband, Thomas, of Gallitzin and Michael and wife, Vicki Horrax, of Cresson; five grandchildren: Ron (Teresa) Kowalczyk, Kim (Mark) Decker, Alan (Rebekah) Kippeny, Philip (Hannah) Archey and David (Jillian) Archey; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Dziabo of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip J., on May 21, 1974; an infant son, Anthony; two sisters: Dorothy Templon and Rose Eckenrode; and a brother, John.
Florence worked as an aide at the former Cresson State School and also at Publix Shirt Factory, Gallitzin. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, Cresson Senior Citizens and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. She enjoyed bingo and her dog, TT.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Committal will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
