Bonnie Johnston-Lewis, 65, Manvel, Texas, passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2013.
She was born in Altoona.
Surviving are her mother, Bette Johnston; a son, Scott Troyer and wife, Ruby; two daughters: Michelle Morris and husband, Adam, and Ashley Morales; five grandchildren: Syin Troyer, Mila and Mateo Morris and Ariana and Alyssa Morales; a brother, Corky Johnston; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Johnston.
Bonnie, lovingly known as "Bebe," was honest, artistic, creative, compassionate and caring. She was devoted to her family and cherished every opportunity she had to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She regularly sacrificed for friends, co-workers and family, whether it was caring for her mother as she grew older, buying extra Christmas presents for a family in need, or opening her home to someone without a place to stay. Always brave, she worked tirelessly, often two and three jobs at a time, to make a better life for her three children. She did not complain or relent but selflessly gave to everyone in her path. The purity of Bonnie's love and kindness represented the best of her generation and made her family very proud.
Though Bonnie lived a full and happy life, she was called home early. As much sadness as this last year brought, her family is thankful for their time together and Bonnie's unlimited sacrifices and love. They will carry her spirit and legacy forward, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Bonnie's life from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 3310 St. Charles Court, Missouri City, TX 77459.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonnie's honor to Meals on Wheels or to the National Brain Tumor Society.
