Michael Richard Misciagna, 90, Long Beach, Calif., passed away Tuesday at Kindred Hospital Tri-City Campus, Hawaiian Gardens, Calif.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gennaro and Giuseppina (Maitina) Misciagna.
Surviving are a brother, Nick of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sisters: Esther Dorazio and Mary Carnell, both of Altoona, Evelyn Urbanek of Coupon and Mary Dolores Johnston (Charles) of Dupont; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sam and Mary Carey of Carson, Calif.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: John, Chester, Rocco and Jerry; two sisters: Josephine Haselbarth and Edith Altiero; three brothers-in-law: Larry Dorazio Sr., Donald Carnell Sr. and Clair Urbanek Sr.; and two sisters-in-law: Hazel and Lois Misciagna.
Michael served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal. After leaving the military, he was employed by Boeing, formerly McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, until his retirement at age 80.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
