A Franciscan brother living at St. Bernadine's Monastery in Hollidaysburg is at the center of sex abuse claims involving 11 students at a school in Ohio.
The Tribune Chronicle in Warren, Ohio, a sister paper of the Mirror's, reports that claims have been settled against John F. Kennedy High School, the Diocese of Youngstown and a branch of the Franciscan Order.
Two men who said they were abused by Brother Stephen Baker, who was a baseball coach at the school, said most of the abuse took place when they played baseball for the school.
The abuse dates back prior to 1991, according to reports.
"We have been told by the Order that he has been removed from the ministry and is under supervision," Tony DeGol, secretary for communications of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, said.
DeGol noted that Baker is not a diocesan priest and his case is not being handled by the diocese.
The Mirror is working on a story for Thursday's paper.
