Richard E. "Dick" Stout, 75, Altoona, died Tuesday at his residence after a brief Illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Fred and Frances (Wendt) Stout. He married Joan Frates on Dec. 13, 1954, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Daryl K. of Altoona and girlfriend, Amy Rapczak, and Brady R. of Altoona; five grandchildren: Mark, Adam, Brianne, Bailey and Addyson; a brother, Ronald H. (Carol) of Altoona; two sisters: Shirley L. Havlin (Thomas) of Altoona and Nancy Homan of Altoona; a brother-in-law, John Frates (Sue) in Florida; and a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Gallucio in New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by three sons: Richard D., James B. and Robert D.; and a grandson, Brandon J. Stout.
Dick was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. He retired from the Altoona Area School District as a vo-tech teacher, and previously he had been a contractor. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Juniata.
Dick coached baseball and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed traveling and bowling, was an avid animal lover and loved spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, by Pastor Elizabeth Hess. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
