TYRONE - Bellwood-Antis' Noah Davis demands so much attention from opposing defenses that it creates a lot of open shots for his teammates.
The Blue Devils took full advantage of those opportunities, knocking down 12 3-pointers in a 71-51 win over rival Tyrone Monday at the Tyrone Area High School gym.
Senior guard Dominic Sisto, who had been 0-for-12 from behind the arc prior to Monday's game, drained a trio of 3-pointers in the first half as Bellwood opened up a 14-point lead and went on for the win to remain undefeated at 10-0. Tyrone's record fell to 6-4.
"My coaches and teammates have been building my confidence and telling me to keep shooting. I've been working on it a lot," Sisto said. "It was so much fun. I love winning here."
Seven different Blue Devils made 3-pointers in what Bellwood coach Brent Gerwert called the team's most "complete game" of the season.
"We've been preaching that if the other team leaves you open, show them you can make it," Gerwert said. "When we have balanced scoring, we're pretty tough to beat."
Davis posted another double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 senior averages 22 points and 12 rebounds per game.
"He had his way with us. Anything he wanted to do he did," Tyrone coach George Gripp said. "Some guys stepped up and made shots that we didn't think could do it. They came into our place and beat us in every facet of the game."
Nathan Davis, Noah's younger brother, scored in double digits as well with 14 points. Brandon Gripp led Tyrone with 15 points, the precise number of points Bellwood wanted to the hold the Golden Eagles' leading scorer to.
Gripp dropped 30 on B-A the last time the two teams played.
"I thought if we could hold him to 15, we'd win going away," Gerwert said. "Seth Worthing, Cameron Worthing and Kyle Bartlett did a great job frustrating him and taking away the things he wanted to do."
Erik Wagner's two free throws at the 7:10 mark of the second quarter put Tyrone ahead 20-19, but the lead was short-lived. Bellwood went ahead for good with a 16-1 run.
Sisto started the run with back-to-back 3-pointers from the left wing. Nathan Davis then added a pair of off-balance layups and a trey.
Steffan Wyland's follow of a Bartlett miss made it a 35-21 lead.
Tyrone closed out the half with a 7-2 run to make it an eight-point game at the break, but by the end of the third, Bellwood had the lead back up to 18. Noah Davis scored six points driving to the basket, Cameron Worthing drained a 3-pointer from the left corner, and Seth Worthing made a pair of treys from the right corner.
