Albert "Al" Zakowsky, 87, R.D. Flinton, died Sunday at home.
He was born in Patton, son of the late Walter and Mary (Gormish) Zakowsky.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Ruth Bender, whom he married on June 21, 1952, in Patton; children: Ed (Sharon) of Hampton, Va., Linda Williams (Frank) of Lyleville, Carol Sickles (Bill), of R.D. Flinton and Dale at home; four grandchildren: Steve Brink (Chris), Amanda Brink, Leonard Brink and Ben Brink; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers: John Julick, Michael Julick and George Zakowsky; and sisters: Mary Sharkey, Helen Johnson and Betty Legros. He was the last member of his immediate family.
He worked as a Union Ironworker out of Clearfield.
Al was a Navy veteran of WWll.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Al was a life member of Coalport VFW.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation.
Al had attended St. Lazarus, Martha and Mary Catholic Church, formerly St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday, January 15, 2013, the Rev. Theodore Rematt as Celebrant.
