General McLane captured the team title of the 34th annual Tool City Tournament over the weekend at Meadville High School.
McLane won the title by 32.5 points, 203.5-171, over DuBois, despite only having one champion (Mike Sutton at 152) and one runner-up (Joe Wheeling at 106). Boiling Springs (165) finished third.
DuBois, meanwhile, had three champions in Garrett Brown at 138, Tom Sleigh at 170 and Landon Hanna at 195 and two runners-up.
There were a couple interesting finals results. At 113, Boiling Springs' returning state runner-up Korbin Myers edged Cathedral Prep's returning Northwest Regional Class AAA champ and state sixth-placer Jake Gromacki, 2-1.
At 132, Clearfield's Christian Stone, who took third in that talent-laden Northwest Regional 120-pound class last season that included Brashear's eventual state champ Godwin Nyama, pinned McDowell's Nick Gibson with 3 seconds left in overtime. Altoona's T.J. Brandt beat Gibson, 5-4, to win his first regional title last year.
