Chester A. Smith Sr., 73, Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Bellwood, son of the late Rexford and Alberta (Barth) Smith. He married Carol Ann Lang on March 30, 1963, in Duncansville.
Surviving are his wife of Altoona; a daughter, Renee Weaver and husband, Jim; five sons: Scott Lang and wife, Sherry, Chester A. Smith Jr. and Diane, Jeff Smith and wife, Sheila, William Smith and Lisa and Ryan Smith and wife, Nicole; 11 grandchildren; two sisters: Debra Woomer and Bonnie Parson; and a brother, Edward Smith.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rexford Smith Jr.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army as a private. He was formerly employed as a truck driver for Pleasant Trucking Co. of Connellsville before retiring in 2004 after many years of service.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
