Alverta Mae Skidmore, 94, formerly of Cresson, died Saturday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born in Butler, daughter of the late Roy and Velma (Bortmas) Seitz. She married Richard B. Skidmore in 1946, and he died on March 21, 1980.
Surviving are three children: Nancy Laney (Ron) and Gerald, all of Cresson, and Jean Borlie of Duncansville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Opal Seitz of Altoona and June Burkert of Evans City; and a brother-in-law, Albert Detwiler in Arizona.
Alverta was a homemaker and greatly involved in her church. She was a member of Cresson Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where she was treasurer, Sunday school teacher and served on the board for many years.
A private viewing and service will be held at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson.
Interment will be at Armagh Cemetery.
