Two Norfolk Southern Corp. workers suffered steam burns Thursday at the Juniata Locomotive Shop, according to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
Norfolk Southern spokesman Dave Pidgeon confirmed that an incident occurred but would not comment on the status of the workers.
Chris Robinson, acting area director of OSHA's Pittsburgh office, confirmed the cause of the workers' injuries and said an investigation is ongoing.
An OSHA investigator was at the facility Thursday and Friday, Robinson said.
OSHA cited Norfolk Southern twice for safety violations since 2008 for incidents at the Juniata shop, according to an agency database. A 2008 incident initially resulted in a proposed $16,200 fine, but the fine was reduced to $1,500 through OSHA's settlement process.
