M. Ruth Keith, 66, Altoona, died early Thursday morning at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles C. and Mary F. (Bortz) Brawley. She married Thomas G. Keith on April 9, 1981, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death Aug. 13, 2002.
Surviving are two children: Thomas W. Keith of Washington, Pa., and Cassandra L. Keith and William Markel Jr. of Altoona; five grandchildren: John Paul Keith, Jeremiah Keith, Michael Keith, William Markel III and Jenna Walters; three sisters: D. Jean White of Kinston, N.C., Linda Steele and husband, John, of Altoona and Charlotte Stiver and husband, Robert, of Altoona; a daughter-in-law, Dana Overcash of Altoona; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Louise Orr.
Ruth was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School. She formerly was employed at Saf-T-Bak and also had been employed as a nurse's aide at Altoona Hospital and in private duty. She attended Sovereign Grace Church, Altoona.
Ruth loved her grandchildren and Pittsburgh Steelers football. She was a very sociable and outgoing person, and she was particular about her home and its keep. At an earlier age, she also played the trombone in the Salvation Army band.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m., Pastor Thomas Kurtz officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
