Emma L. Levitan, 95, passed away Tuesday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Logan Township, daughter of Harry E. and Viola Belle (Shinafelt) Blake. She was first married to William H. Horine, who died Jan. 11, 1958. She then married Earl Levitan on Aug. 29, 1964 in Harrisburg, and he passed away in 1986.
She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Wise, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Anne; a brother, William Blake; and four sisters: Helen Boehm, Mildred Jaffe, Eleanor Cooper and infant Martha.
Emma was a 1935 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and attended Altoona School of Commerce. She was a teacher's aide in the Virginia schools for 20 years, and she volunteered at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, dancing and traveling, and she made handmade rugs.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg, Pastor Dennis Derr officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 801 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648, in memory of Emma.
