Sheldon H. Swengle, 95, Owasso, Okla., died Dec. 22, 2012.
He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Charles Vallerchamp and Edith V. Swengle. He married L. Jane Bearr in Altoona on June 25, 1949.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Craig and wife, Tammy, of Owasso, Okla.; two grandchildren: Jared Swengle and fiancee, Tristen Rizzo, of Shawnee, Okla., and Nicole Swengle of Owasso; and three sisters-in-law: Doris Bearr of Altoona, Helen Laulor and husband, Richard, of Alexandria, Va., and Barbara Bearr of San Antonio, Texas.
Sheldon was raised in Altoona and graduated from Altoona High School. After marrying Jane, they made their home in Middletown prior to their move to Oklahoma. While in Middletown, he was active in many committees at his church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then went on to work at Olmsted Air Force Base in many positions within the maintenance division, including chief of maintenance.
Friends will be received from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery.
