Helen "Kellie" Pappas, 90, Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone, formerly of Altoona, died Monday at her residence.
She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late George and Eugenia (Koles) Karaoulis. She married Christ Pappas on Sept. 19, 1945, in Philadelphia, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2008.
Surviving are five children: Peter of Chambersburg, Dr. Jeanne Friedman of West Palm Beach, Fla., Steven of Palm City, Fla., Gregory of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Michael of Altoona; nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and two brothers: Charles Caroulis and Nicholas Karaoulis.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Julia, in 2003; and a brother, James Caroulis.
Kellie was a 1940 graduate of Overbrook High School, Philadelphia. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where she sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Greek Women's Philophotos and a life member of the Parent-Teacher Association. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 32 years.
At Kellie's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
