Vyvian A. Beecher, 83, Altoona, died Saturday morning.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of F.C. and Emma Pearl (Lingenfelter) Holmes. She married David C. Beecher on Feb. 26, 1948, at Greenwood United Methodist Church, and he died July 30, 1990.
Surviving are three sons: Richard A. of Williamsburg, Va., and David L. and Darryl A., both of Altoona; a daughter, Kathy L. Zoeller of Altoona; three grandchildren: Elaine A. Wells, Scott D. Beecher and Tracey E. Pesante, all of Williamsburg, Va.; and two great-grandchildren: Cameron Wells and Makenzie Pesante, both of Williamsburg, Va.

She was the last of her generation.
Vyvian was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired in 1991 as the secretary for the commandant at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Bavarian Aid Society, and she enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and playing Uno.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
