Myrtle G. Adams, 89, a resident of Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, formerly of McKee, died Friday evening at Hillview after a brief illness.

She was born in McKee, daughter of the late John "Jack" C. and Mary T. (Miller) Helsel. She married Albert B. Adams on April 25, 1946, in McKee. He died November 17, 1973.

Surviving are seven children: Ruth Hoffner and husband, Jim, of Canoe Creek, Kenneth Carnell of Roaring Spring, Paul and David Carnell, both of Hollidaysburg, Jeffrey McKissick in Pennsylvania, Daniel McKissick in South Carolina and Rebecca Houck in Texas; 36 additional foster children; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Swope and husband, Benny, of Bakers Summit; and two brothers: Jesse Arnold of Brookes Mills and Ray Helsel in Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty (Shaw) Parks; a granddaughter, Angel McKissick; and 22 siblings.

Myrtle attended Berean Baptist Church, Duncansville. She was previously employed at Price's Poultry and the Pennsylvania Railroad.

She enjoyed word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, officiated by Pastor Carl Wolf. Interment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.

Contributions in Myrtle's memory may be given to Berean Baptist Church or the family.
