William E. "Bill" Neely Jr., 84, Duncansville, entered into God's eternal peace on Monday, with his family by his side.
He was born in Huntingdon, son of the late William E. Sr. and Estella (Corcelious) Neely. He was the loving husband of Joanne (Langham) for 53 years.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne; a daughter, Rhonda J. Blyler and husband, Barry, of Gettysburg; a son, Steven C. Neely of Duncansville; a sister, Gail Boring of Hastings; a grandson, Adam; a foster-granddaughter, Liz, and her children: Cara and Hanna; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also survived by a very special friend and neighbor, Lucille Boyer, and her daughter, Rylee. Rylee is their granddaughter in heart.
Bill was a 1947 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, where he was a member of the football team. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52. He worked for Butterick for 23 years before retiring in 1989. After retirement, Bill enjoyed carpentry work and helping others.
He was a member of American Legion Post 516 for more than 50 years. He was a member of Hick's United Methodist Church, where he attended the men's Sunday school class. Bill loved to work at the church. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a friend to everyone who knew him.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, Jan 5, 2013, at Hick's United Methodist Church. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Hick's United Methodist Church and/or Hospice Care of Blair County.
