The tragedy that happened in Newtown, Conn., is terrible, and the families have my sympathies, but before any steps are taken we need to sit back and think about things before we react.
Senator Feinstein wants to take all guns away and the Senator from West Virginia stated that a hunter does not need a 30-round magazine for hunting. That's true, but the weapons used in the shooting were not rifles but handguns.
Please don't get me wrong: Shootings like these are terrible actions, but, please, you can not punish everyone for the actions of one person. Responsible people purchase their guns legally and the questionable people get them unlawfully.
Look at the arrest made recently in Altoona; the individual had a stolen handgun. I think that there needs to be action taken but do not take the people's rights away - enough have been taken so far just look at the healthcare program they took away the separation of church and state.
We are on a slippery slope in this country. If we do not act responsibly and take our time, the next thing you know we will be goose stepping at parades and saluting with our right arms raised.
Please, America, give your thoughts and prayers to the families and the ones that were taken from us but make sure we proceed with caution and thoughts of our future.
All that needs to be done is for strong men not to act.
