Ruth E. Halmsteiner

Ruth E. Halmsteiner, 91, a resident at The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Roaring Spring, went home to be with the Lord, her Savior, Tuesday evening at the Village.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Webster "Happy" and Annie Mae (Oldham) Patterson. She married Louis J. Halmsteiner on Aug. 2, 1941, in Virginia, and he died March 27, 2005.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Appleman and husband, Ted, of Roaring Spring; three grandchildren: Todd Appleman and wife, Angela, of Roaring Spring, Shawn Appleman and wife, Tracey, of Hopewell and Amy Langer and husband, Michael, of Roaring Spring; five great-grandchildren: Braeden, Dylan and Alison Appleman and Anthony and Damon Langer; and two sisters: Faye Baer of Altoona and Norma Jean Brown of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Frank and George "Jake;" a sister, Mary Stiffler; and infant siblings: William and Sue.

Ruth was previously employed at Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring Blank Book Co. and Apple Packers. She was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren and also had volunteered at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, cooking and taking care of everyone she could. She loved serving other people.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public service. A service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made at Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the church and congregation that Ruth so loved, Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, 218 Rebecca Furnace Road, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
