Elmer Robert Kirkpatrick, 88, of Pennington Road, Tyrone, died Monday at his residence.
He was born in Tyrone, son of Charles A. and Delilah (Hosband) Kirkpatrick. He married Donna W. Berkstresser on June 28, 1970, in Tyrone.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Randy of Carlisle; a daughter, Kimberly Shannon and husband, Rick, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Kayla Dawn and Logan Taylor Kirkpatrick and Anthony Lee Shannon; and three sisters: Edna Sherry of Bald Eagle and Maxine Black and Delma Parks, both of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, David; three brothers; and two sisters.
Elmer was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as a corporal in China, Burma and India. He retired in 1986 from Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, as a header operator after 35 years of service.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, the Rev. Ken Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. The Tyrone Honor Guard will provide veteran honors at the service.
