Carl M. Lechner Sr., 78, Bellwood, died Monday afternoon at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Max M. and Martha (Rieger) Lechner. He married Rhoda Z. McCloskey on Sept. 24, 1958, in Greenwood.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Carl M. Jr. (Deb) and Robert S. (Brenda), both of Bellwood; a daughter, Tiffany R. (Rusty) Koelle of Altoona; three grandchildren: Chelsea, Ashley and Sydney; and two brothers: Paul of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Tom of Bellwood.
Carl was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He retired as a nurse's aide at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was a member of Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Excelsior Fire Company No. 1, all of Bellwood.
Carl enjoyed collecting and displaying model trains and woodworking.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood, the Revs. Chuck Curley, Kathy Colebank and Norman Huff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood.
