A Cambria County woman tried to start her Christmas shopping over the weekend when she noticed a card placed on the windshield of her car outside Boscov's in Altoona.
The card had the following message:
"How do you fight evil in the world? You fight it with good. This act of kindness is in memory of a child who lost his/her life yesterday. Make the world a better place. Do good and Merry Christmas."
Inside the card was $10, Rose Pratt of Cresson said Monday.
"I started to cry," she said.
She couldn't keep the gift to herself and called family and friends and posted the news on Facebook. She later told the story to WJAC-TV, which first reported Sunday on the good deed.
"Last weekend was so hard on everybody," Pratt said. "I needed to pass on this good news. My sole purpose in doing this was to try to touch as many people as possible."
Pratt said she plans to use that money and some of her own to help a child in need.
