Wayne Walter Waksmonski

Wayne Walter Waksmonski, 68, Altoona, passed away Sunday evening surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Altoona, the only child of the late Clair C. and Betty J. (Hugar) Waksmonski. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy Schmerbeck, on May 25, 1963, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Bill and wife, Wendy (Wineland), and John and wife, Shandra (Nader); six granddaughters: Sarah, Elaina, Olivia, Maura, Aubree and Payton; his father-in-law, Elmer Schmerbeck; a sister-in-law, Candy Robertson and husband, John; his only niece, Jackie Gutshall and husband, Robert; and a great-niece, Gabrielle.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Albert and Edith Waksmonski and Walter and Anna Hugar; and his mother-in-law, Beulah Schmerbeck.

Wayne was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from Ward Trucking Corp. in 2005 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Altoona Area High School Alumni Association and Cesare Battisti Club and a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

A private service will be held at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wayne's memory may be made to March of Dimes, Olde Farm Office Road, Duncansville, PA 16635.
