The Rev. D. David McCaulley, 92, Hollidaysburg, died Friday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

He was born on Brush Mountain, son of the late Bertram and M. Elizabeth (Coho) McCaulley. He married C. Ruth Leidy on June 1, 1946, at Grace Gospel (Bible) Church, Lakemont, and she died March 28, 2011, having shared nearly 65 years of marriage.

Surviving are two sons: Daniel R. and wife, Jane, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Philip J. and wife, Beverly, of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Matthew, Jay, Adam and Amanda; two great-grandchildren: David and Wyatt; and three brothers: William C. of Lakemont, J. Allen of Altoona and Pastor James A. of Indiana, Pa.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Pastor Glen, B.C. "Bud," Donald, Thomas and K. Paul.

Pastor McCaulley was a 1939 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He graduated from the Altoona Bible Institute in 1953 and taught there for 35 years, and he was ordained on Sept. 10, 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Ross during WWII when it came under attack in the Leyte Gulf, and he also served aboard the USS Stormes during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from Conrail in 1980 as a maintenance foreman after 41 years of service. He served as pastor of the Juniata Valley Gospel Church, Lower Reese, Hollidaysburg, for more than 58 years from March 7, 1954, to the present.

Pastor Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and was a lifetime firefighter with the Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Juniata Valley Gospel Church, the Rev. James A. McCaulley officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church building fund.
