Dorothy J. (Ross) Rhodes, 90, Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday at the Village.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Verda M. (Beeghly) Ross.
She married William H. Rhodes on Dec. 21, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1993.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Bobbie M. Walter, of Altoona, two sons: Wayne B. Rhodes and wife, Sally, of Altoona, and Tim B. Rhodes and wife, Bonnie, of Sanford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Yutzy and husband, Leroy, of Meyersdale, and a brother, Donald Ross and wife, Charlotte, of Somerset.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Barron; brothers: Kenneth, William, Blair and Rhuel; a grandson, Scott Rhodes, and a great-grandson, Bryant Rispoli.
Dorothy retired as a bridge operator from Sylvania after 34 years of service.
She was a 1940 graduate of Stoney Creek Township High School.
Dorothy was a member of the 28th Street Church of the Brethren and enjoyed making quilts.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor Rebecca Miller-Zeek officiating. Interment will be at Pike Cemetery, Somerset.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's name to the 28th Street Church of the Brethren, 2800 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
