Lester O. "Tucker" Thompson, 73, of Donnertown, Duncansville, died Friday evening at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown, following a brief illness.
He was born in Roaring Spring, the son of the late Lester C. and Sarah E. (Dick) Thompson and was raised in Ore Hill.
Lester married Jean Sell on July 9, 1960.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Cindy L. Dick and husband, Scott, of Roaring Spring, Charlie Thompson and wife, Sue, of Williamsburg, Matt Thompson and wife, Erin, of Smith Corner and Dave Thompson of East Freedom; four grandchildren: Claressa Thompson and Nathan, Taylor and Tucker Dick; three sisters: Myrtle "Girlie" Knisely and husband, Dean, of Roaring Spring, Betsy Ritchey of Imler and Belva Frederick and husband, Glenn, of Roaring Spring; and three brothers: Harry Thompson of Duncansville, J.M. Thompson and wife, Ruth, and Boyd Thompson and wife, Sharon, all of Roaring Spring.
He was preceded in death by two infant children: Barbara and Christopher; a grandson, Joey Dick; and siblings: Mildred and Fred.
Tucker retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. in 2002 after 20 years of service. He also was an owner/operator truck driver for many years.
He was a 1957 graduate of Morrison Cove High School.
His enjoyments were traveling, horse racing, going to the casino, Christmas lights and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the Leamersville Church of the Brethren by Pastor Harold Bowser. Interment will follow in Leamersville-Riverview Cemetery.
