PSU football awaits JUCO decision

The Altoona Mirror

Penn State will find out if blue-chip quarterback Jake Waters is going to join the Nittany Lions today.

Iowa Western Junior College announced via social media that Waters will make his announcement at a press conference at the college at 11:30 a.m. Waters will choose either Penn State or Kansas State.

Waters (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) led the Reivers to a national championship and broke Cam Newton's junior college single-season completion record along the way. He was named the first-team All-American quarterback of the National Junior College Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Waters will enroll in January and has three years to complete two years of eligibility.

If Waters commits to Penn State, it will be the fifth verbal commitment the Lions have received this week.

Penn State also has received some other good news on the recruiting front. Bob Lichtenfels of 247Sports.com reported on Tuesday that four-star running back David Williams of Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia is considering taking an official visit to Penn State on Jan. 11, according to his high school coach, Al Crosby. South Carolina is considered the leader for Williams, who also is considering Miami and Ohio State.
