Griffith "Griff" Spaid Sr., 82, Portage, died Wednesday. He was born in La Jose, son of Norman and Octa (Spencer) Spaid. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Hancharik); two sons: Robert of Portage and Richard of Somerset; three grandchildren; and two siblings: Jean Scarton of Pittsburgh and Robert of Portage. He was preceded in death by a son, Griffith Jr.; and a brother, Harold. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Portage, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. Committal will be held in La Jose Cemetery.
