David K. Moffet

David K. Moffet, 63, Houtzdale, formerly of Tyrone, died Tuesday at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

He was born in Tyrone, son of John and Sarah (Reese) Moffet. He married Shirley Cupp on Feb. 7, 1970, in Warriors Mark.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Nicole Ward and husband, Andrew, of Hatfield and LeAnne Swanson and husband, Matthew, of Mount Joy; four grandchildren: Haley and Kaelyn Swanson and Keira and Zachary Ward; and two sisters: Sally Ann Byers of Gainesville, Fla., and Patricia Knox of Normandy Beach, N.J.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John.

David was a 1966 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in forestry science. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, serving as a captain, and was with the Army Corps of Engineers in the Army Reserve. He was employed with Curtis Bay Energy, Reading, as a salesman for the past two years and had previously been a salesman for Veolia, Brockway, for 15 years. He was a member of Brisbin Baptist Church.

Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, Pastor Mark Melhorn officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone. The Tyrone Honor Guard will provide veteran's honors at the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association (donate.americanheart.org) for research.
