Charles Edward Church, 81, Altoona, died Tuesday afternoon at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of Tom and Anna (McNickel) Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty L. (Wilson); five sons; three foster daughters; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Quarcenta; and six brothers: John, George, Tom, Wilmer, Frankie and James.
Charles was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from Conrail as a welder and was a life member of VFW Post 3 and the Frohsinn Singing Society. He was of the Catholic faith.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, 328 Fifth Ave., Altoona, Father Christopher Panagoplos officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
