Joann M. Blyler, 75, Roaring Spring, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care after an extended illness.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of Ralph and Alverta (White) Burkhart. She married Donald H. Blyler at Hollidaysburg First Church of God, and he died in 1998.

Surviving are three daughters: Joyce Eger of Altoona, Helen Weaver of Martinsburg and Donna Smith of Duncansville; a son, Scott of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Ronald and Robert Burkhart, both of Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Lois Estep and Margaret Curfman.

Joann was a homemaker and a caregiver for many children in the Hollidaysburg area. She had been a member of the Hollidaysburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary since 1989. She enjoyed music and bingo with her friends and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
