Gilbert L. Bryan, 91, formerly of Bellwood, died Saturday morning at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was born in Bigler, son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Williams) Bryan. He married Eleanor R. Burns on April 28, 1944, in Bellwood. She died on July 23, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Elizabeth (Tim) Sissler of Hollidaysburg; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bryan of DuBois; five grandchildren: Darren (Diann) Bryan, Dana (Patrick) McNaul, Jennifer (Shawn) Hoyer, Travis (Katee) Sissler and Lindsey (Matt) Riley; two great-grandchildren: Alicia and Eric Bryan; and a sister, Marie Wood of Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by son, Gerald P., on Aug. 1, 1985; and two brothers: John and Clark Bryan.
Gilbert was a 1939 graduate of Tyrone High School and served in the Army during World War II.
He retired as a powerhouse operator at Westvaco after 44 years of service.
Gilbert was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Bellwood, where he served as secretary/treasurer for 50 years. He delivered Meals on Wheels, played softball and bowled in numerous church leagues. He also enjoyed golfing and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in Gilbert's memory be made to Epworth Manor Memory Support or Asera Care, Altoona.
