A St. Francis University football player is accused of raping a Penn State Altoona student, police said.
Kalil Wynn, 18, of Edison, N.J., surrendered Thursday morning to Logan Township police to face charges stemming from an alleged incident Nov. 11 at a Nittany Pointe apartment near Penn State Altoona, police said.
Wynn, a freshman defensive back who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond by Magisterial District Judge Steven D. Jackson after his arraignment.
According to police, a 19-year-old Penn State Altoona student reported she was raped after she invited Wynn and two other St. Francis students to her apartment in the early morning hours of Nov. 11.
Wynn told investigators the sex was consensual, and the girl told him before he left the apartment that she was going to report him for raping her because she was afraid her boyfriend would find out, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The woman told police she encountered the three St. Francis men as she was walking home from a party on Gwin Road.
They asked if she knew of any parties and after talking, the woman and male St. Francis students realized they had a mutual friend. The men offered her a ride back to Nittany Pointe and she accepted.
The men seemed nice, so she invited them to her apartment because she thought her roommates would be there, she told police, according to arrest papers.
The woman said she cooked a frozen pizza for the men, gave them something to drink and they were hanging out for about an hour before she decided to go to bed.
One of the woman's roommates was sleeping in her bedroom and one of Wynn's companions fell asleep on the couch while watching television, but Wynn and another male walked back to the woman's bedroom and told her they would "tuck her in," police said.
One of the men even said a bedtime prayer with the woman, but she became concerned when they wouldn't leave, police noted. Eventually, she got the two outside her door and closed it.
Unsure what to do, she sat in the room until one of the men, who police said was Wynn, came into the room with a condom in his hand and forced her to have sex with him.
The woman told police she told Wynn, "no" and said, "Stop, don't do this."
Police said the woman told investigators she intentionally scratched Wynn in an attempt to get DNA evidence. When the alleged assault ended, the three St. Francis students left the apartment. She woke her roommate and then called police.
Wynn could not be reached for comment and it was unclear if he had an attorney as of Thursday night. St. Francis spokeswoman Marie Young said she could only confirm Wynn was a student and couldn't comment on the allegations.
Wynn is due to appear before Jackson on Jan. 10 for a preliminary hearing on seven charges, including five felonies.
