Elizabeth N. ‘Betty’ Davis

Elizabeth N. "Betty" Davis, 91, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday morning at the home.

She was born in Mineral County, W.Va., daughter of the late Leon A. and Fern L. (McCulloh) Neff. She married Dr. Charles R. Davis Jr. on Dec. 14, 1940, in Huntingdon, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter, Judith A. Wood of Altoona; two grandchildren: Paulette A. McGeary and husband, Brian, and G. Thomas Wood and wife, Tammy Jo; four great-grandchildren: Nicole, Megan, Roseanne and Chase; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Betty was a 1939 graduate of Huntingdon High School, where she was secretary of her class, and also attended the Altoona School of Commerce. She retired in 1983 from the Mount Union Borough Office, where she had been employed for several years as borough secretary. She had also done volunteer work at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.

Betty was currently a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona, where she had been active in volunteer work. She had formerly been a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church when residing in Mount Union. She enjoyed painting, reading and sewing.

There will be no public viewing or visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona, Father Brian Saylor officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5514 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; or The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, 916 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.

Arrangements are by Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
