Harris named to first-team volleyball squad

Brandy Harris, a Bedford graduate, was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Western Division's first-team volleyball squad for her efforts on the California, Pa. team this past season.

Harris, a senior, made the team for the second time and was an outside hitter for the Vulcans.

Hollidaysburg graduate Rachel McClain scored a career-high 29 points and had seven assists for the Chatham women's basketball team in a victory over Geneva Saturday after scoring a team-high 17 points and picking off five steals in a loss to La Roche earlier in the week.

Elle Collins, a Hollidaysburg graduate, is averaging 10.6 points per game through five contests this season for the St. Vincent women's basketball team, which is 4-2.

Kayla DeCriscio, an Altoona graduate, scored eight points off the bench for the UPJ women's basketball team in a 72-50 victory over Clarion recently. DeCriscio also had a pair of steals.

Hannah Gildea, a Hollidaysburg graduate, scored a career-high 18 points for the Lock Haven women's basketball team in a victory over Notre Dame College. Gildea was 6-for-8 on 3-pointers in the game.

Lock Haven teammate and Altoona graduate Marrysa Moyer added 11 points and blocked two shots in the game before scoring a career-high 22 points in a loss to Shippensburg. Moyer added nine rebounds in that game.

Cambria Heights graduate Ian Vescovi scored 15 points and had five rebounds, and Central Cambria graduate Jordan Miller scored 10 points and had four assists for the UPJ men's basketball team in a loss to Fairmont State.

Miller scored 15 and Vescovi 10 in a victory over Davis & Elkins on Saturday.

Penn Cambria graduate Pat Myers is 11-1 for the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville wrestling team after returning from breaking two vertebrae in his neck in February.

Shane Conway, a Hollidaysburg graduate, played in 16 of the 17 matches played by the Penn State Altoona soccer team this past season. Conway was a defender/midfielder for the 9-8 Lions, who reached the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference semifinals.

Altoona graduates Alphonso Lewis, Tyler Futrell and Neal Huyhn, along with Hollidaysburg graduate Ryan McGrath, are members of the Ohio University football team that was selected to play in the Independence Bowl against Louisiana-Monroe on Dec. 28.

Hollidaysburg graduate Justin Gildea finished his senior year at Temple with 53 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery and had three pass breakups.
