Raymond L. Gority

Raymond L. Gority, 75, Altoona, died Saturday at his home after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Cecil H. and Anna Marie (Kuhn) Gority. He married Evelyn M. Klopp on June 10, 2004.

Surviving are his wife; five daughters: Kimberly Zimmerman, Kathleen Luke, Kelley Musto, Karen Staley and Mary Anne Gority; a son, Patrick; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Catherine Hardin and Regina Friedenberger; and two brothers: John F. and Michael J.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph Edward, Clement Hugh, Robert Mahoney and infant Cecil Regis; and a sister, Mary Ann Schmidthammer.

Raymond served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and 1970. He served on the support team for the trans-Antarctic expedition Operation Deep Freeze I. He retired in 1976 as a technical sergeant after 22 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith.

Raymond was a member of VFW Post 8685, Bavarian Aid Society and St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Interment will be made at Arlington National Cemetery.
