Charles E. Longenecker Sr. 89, died unexpectedly at his residence in Poplar Run. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles H. and Martha E. (Euston) Longenecker.
He married Alma H. Wilk on June 26, 1948, in Newry. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1991, having shared 43 years of marriage.
He is survived by a son, Charles E. Jr. and wife, Mary, of Queen; one step-daughter, Lorraine Kane of Duncansville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Dick of Roaring Spring and a brother, John K. of Hollidaysburg.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Strayer.
Charles was a retired welder from the Hollidaysburg Car Shops.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Newry Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed shooting pool and hunting small game and deer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Pastor Michael Rhyne. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
