An Altoona gas station manager said no one has come forward at the store to claim a $1 million ticket purchased there in Wednesday's Powerball drawing.
The Pennsylvania Lottery sold three winning Powerball tickets worth $1 million each, a lottery press release said. The tickets were sold at Swaraj Service Station, 1700 Seventh Ave., and two other locations in Butler and Montgomery counties.
Each ticket correctly matched all five white balls, 5, 16, 22, 23, 29, but not the red Powerball 6, to win a prize of $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding. Each retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling a winning ticket.
The Sunoco is owned by Venu Golla, the manager said.
The manager said they were excited about the win. The store also had a $1 million scratch-off ticket winner in February, and having two such large winnings at one store is rare, he said.
Kimberly A. Kuny of Altoona won a $1 million prize in the Winner Take All Millionaire Edition in February, according to lottery records.
The manager did not know who purchased Wednesday's winning ticket. It takes awhile for a winner to claim a prize, and even then the winner can do it elsewhere, he said, although it is a courtesy to tell the store where the winning ticket was purchased.
Wednesday's Powerball jackpot reached a game-record $587.5 million annuity prize, or $384.7 million cash. Jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Arizona and Missouri.
It had been growing since Oct. 6. Through Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Lottery saw just over $93 million in Powerball and Power Play sales - ranking it third among participating states in overall sales for the run. Sales peaked between 5 and 6 p.m. Wednesday, selling at a clip of about $40,500 per minute.
The Powerball jackpot reset to an estimated annuity value of $40 million, or $26.2 million cash, for the Saturday drawing.
In the 2010-11 fiscal year, in addition to awarding more than $32 million in prizes to Blair County winners, the Pennsylvania Lottery said it contributed more than $16.4 million to programs that benefited the county's older residents.
