John Ellsworth "OJ" Evans Sr., 83, State College, died Monday after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lawrence "Pete" and Lillian Evans.
Surviving are five sons: John E. Jr. of State College, Randy (Laureen) of Midlothian, Va., Craig of Harrisburg, Brian (Patti) of Bartlett, Ill., and Brent (Laura) of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren: Alexandra, Randy Jr., Shannon, Heidi, Tom, Todd, Tor, Mike, Joe, Erica and Elyssa; four great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Jayden, Addison and Sydney; and a sister, Marsha Hicks of Tulare, Calif.
John was a veteran of both of the U.S. Army and Navy. He retired from Small Tube Products Inc. and was an active member of VFW Post 321. He enjoyed playing competitive pool and loved his dogs, Winston and Guenther.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. There will be no funeral service, and a private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
