Genevieve M. Decker, 91, Roaring Spring, died Monday morning at The Village at Morrisons Cove after a brief illness.
She was born in Coburn, Logan Township, daughter of the late David B. and Rose E. (Crist) Dodson. She married Frank W. Decker on June 25, 1941, in Winchester, Va., and he died Jan. 30, 2001.
Surviving are two children: Walter and wife, Cathy, of Roaring Spring and Shirley Butler and husband, Chet, of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Balliet (Chuck), Corey Butler, Jason Butler (Jennifer), Erin Focht (Rick), Kerri Carder (Fred), Amber Chappell (Kevin), Lauren Arnold (Eric) and Brooke Decker; 12 great-grandchildren: Kassie Resig, Kerrstin and Noah Focht, Christopher, Abby and Jenna Carder, Morgan and Emma Balliet, Jabon, Jarrin and Jaycie Butler and Courtney Balliet; a great-grandchild due in March; and two siblings: Patricia Beach and Arthur Dodson, both of Roaring Spring.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon K., in 1952; two sisters: Ruth E. Dodson and Dorothy I. Smith; and four brothers: Russell D., Fred W., Chalmer A. and Durbin H.
Genevieve was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Roaring Spring. She had attended Roaring Spring High School, and she enjoyed reading.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, by the Rev. Kaye Hute. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
