Darrel Wayne "DJ" Etchison Jr., 3, Altoona, died Thursday morning at Altoona Regional.
He was a son of Darrel Wayne Sr. and Brandy Jo (Carter) Etchison.
Surviving are his parents of Altoona; sisters: Caline Etchison and Madison Etchison, both of Altoona; a brother, Darrel Williams; a sister, Kayla Reyes; a brother, Christopher Wilson; and a sister, Janaya Reyes, all of Staten Island, N.Y.; a sister, Kachella Marchese, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a sister, Kadija Grayson, of Jacksonville, N.C.; a grandmother, Evelyn Etchison, of Staten Island, N.Y.; an aunt, Maria Etchison; and an uncle, Divine Etchison, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; maternal uncles: David and Zachary Hetrick of Lewistown; paternal uncles: Lahiem, Doug, Jimmy and Aborn of Staten Island, N.Y.; great auntie Linda; and great uncle Rodger of Pittsburgh; and cousins: Matt, Allan, Jason and Rachel.

DJ was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Booker T. Etchison; and his maternal grandmother, Leslie Hetrick.
He was a student at The Learning Express.
He loved to play, watch movies, especially "Planet of the Apes" and "Toy Story," where he particularly enjoyed "Woody and Buzz Lightyear." DJ also enjoyed the "COPS" theme song, "Power Rangers", Freeze Pops, grapes and his puppy, Jada.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nate Germany officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
