Merrell D. Himes, 99, Milroy, died Monday evening at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
He was born in Portage, son of the late Chester L. and Bertha M. (Clark) Himes. He married Marjorie Dick, who preceded him in death on June 2, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Neil C. Himes of Belleville; two grandchildren: Steven Himes and Gina and Natisha Fultz and Fred; and seven great-grandchildren: Taylor, Logan, Cassie, Cody, Addison, Bree and Clayton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul and Lewis Himes; a sister, Iome McVicker; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Himes.
Merrell was co-owner/operator of Himes 322 Service Station in Milroy from 1955 to 1984.
He was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church, Milroy Lions Club, Blue Juniata Choir, Siglerville Men's Club, Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, U.C.T. and Retired School Employees Association.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Church Hill United Methodist Church, Woodland Circle, Reedsville, with the Revs. Gerald Peachey and Jean Ward officiating.
Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery.
