Richard G. ‘Dick’ Truesdale

Richard G. "Dick" Truesdale, 86, Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly Monday morning at his residence.

He was born in Brockway, son of Delbert and Gertrude (Hafner) Truesdale. He was twice married, first to R. Joanne Schaffner on Jan. 17, 1947, in Reynoldsville, and she died Feb. 24, 1982. He then married Kathleen McCaulley on Nov. 5, 1983, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Richard G. Jr. and wife, Mary, of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Kim Aboud and husband, David, of Altoona and Mindy T. McDonald and husband, Bob, of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and Kathleen's daughters: Cathy Sue Currie and husband, Keith, of Cranberry Township and Phyllis Stone and husband, Bob, of Sanford, N.C.

He was preceded in death by two young daughters: Sandra and Amy.

Dick was a graduate of Brockway High School and Syracuse University and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was retired from his architecture firm, Richard G. Truesdale and Associates. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, served on the board of directors of The Salvation Army and Rescue Mission and was active in the Altoona Bible Institute.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Grace Bible Church by Pastor Darren Ritchey. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that donations be made to Grace Bible Church in memory of Dick.
