I believe Valley View Home is a blessing to Blair County. It is a great benefit to our citizens to have a nonprofit option for a nursing home, which usually results in lower costs.
The home is now self-supporting, and there is no reason why it cannot continue to be.
I have witnessed the care and attention the home's staff provides when several family members and friends were patients at Valley View.
It was outstanding, even better than at some more expensive for-profit facilities I have experienced.
If the home is run with the objective to making a profit, corners will be cut and care will most likely suffer.
I believe it will prove to be a mistake if the commissioners go through with their plan to sell.
