Name: Haden DeGennaro
Athlete of the week achievement: In helping his team beat Bishop Guilfoyle, 19-6, in the District 6 Class A semifinals, DeGennaro picked off a pass to stop one Marauder drive, and recovered a fumble on another drive to stop them. Both drives were deep in Bellwood territory, too.
Season update: He has four interceptions for the season. Offensively, he has rushed for 505 yards on 54 carries. He has seven receptions for 189 yards. He has totaled seven touchdowns.
Coach John Hayes' quote: "He provides so much for us, a lot of diversity on offense. We use him a lot for counters and things. Defensively, he has come on so strong the last half of the year. We put him in and he makes big plays. He has a nose for the ball and very athletic. Not just this past week, the last 4-5 weeks he has made a lot of big plays for us, and not just on the defensive side."
