Chestnut Ridge's first-ever PIAA interdistrict football playoff game will be held at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium on Friday night. Kickoff for the Class AA first-round contest is 7 p.m.
The Lions will face District 9 champion Karns City. Ridge qualified by beating Everett, 22-21, on Nov. 9 in the District 5 final, then got a bye through the District 5-8 championship game when Westinghouse, which would have been the Pittsburgh City League representative, decided not to enter the playoffs.
District 6 will hold its Class AA and A championship games this weekend at Mansion Park. On Friday, it will be father against son when sixth-seeded Forest Hills, coaching by Don Bailey, takes on 2011 runner-up Richland, the top seed coached by Brandon Bailey, in the Class AA matchup.
Top-ranked Bellwood-Antis faces sixth-seeded Bishop McCort for the 6-A championship on Saturday night at 7. The Blue Devils are returning to the district final, where they fell to Penns Manor last year after beating Bishop McCort earlier in the playoffs.
State College also will be in action on Saturday, traveling to Slippery Rock University to take on McDowell of District 10 in Class AAAA action.
