Mervyn H. Smith, 80, of King passed away Sunday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in East Freedom, son of the late Russell B. and Goldie (Diehl) Smith. He married Jean Shultz on Jan. 13, 1950, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife of King; a son, Randy Smith of Eureka, Mont.; a daughter, Crystal Imler and husband, David, of King; two granddaughters: Yetta Smith and companion, Brad Miller, and Jolene Betar and husband, Greg, all of Altoona; four great-grandchildren: Miranda and Marlana Miller and Mason and Makenna Betar; a brother, Robert Smith of Claysburg; and two sisters: Donna Claar of Claysburg and Darlene Wesner of East Freedom.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bartley.
Mervyn attended Claysburg Bible Church. He retired as an electrician from Conrail in 1999 and also did construction work on the side. He enjoyed hunting, watching football, reading the Bible and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment will be in Imler Valley Cemetery.
